Ideal digital technology would tell us what we need to know, so we have the situation awareness to make good decisions and operate vessels effectively. it would not make us absorb information we do not need.
And it would work reliably, safely and without being hacked.
Ideal digital technology would also assist the industry to decarbonise, making the best decisions about all matters relating to decarbonisation, from the speed and routes of our vessels, to the choices of buying energy saving devices. It would also support crew and make them feel motivated to operate vessels as with low emissions, as far as possible within commercial constraints. It would also help us comply comfortably with complex regulations.
